Early fall

I walked this morning at Kathy Fromme Prairie between Loveland and Ft. Collins. The air had that crispy grass smell that fall brings. It was cool but not cold and the sun was shining with just a few puffy clouds. There are all kinds of grasses blooming. Bluestems, foxtails, little ethereal fluffs, grains. I heard a lot of birds; blackbirds, wrens, and one of my favorite- a meadowlark. It's a sound from childhood; we lived across from a pasture and the meadowlarks sang and sang. It's one of my top ten sounds that I love to hear. What are yours?

Here's the sound of a Western Meadowlark. It's a little different from the Eastern but I'm not enough of a bird expert to tell you the exact differences.
